Ingredients
- Puff pastry
- Apples – My preference is Pink Lady Apples
- Sugar
- Ground cinnamon
- Ground nutmeg
- Egg whites or one egg beaten
- Lemon and water (for soaking apple slices so they don’t turn brown)
Let’s Make Baked Apple Pie Rings
- Thaw puff pastry if using frozen.
- Peel and core the apples.
- Slice into rounds.
- Use a 1-1/4 inch diameter cookie cutter to open the core slice a little larger.
- Place the apple slices into a bowl, cover with water, and add the juice of 1 lemon.
- Unfold the puff pastry and roll it until it is slightly larger.
- Cut the puff pastry into ¾ inch strips.
- Mix the cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg in a shallow dish and set aside.
- Pat the apple slices dry with a paper towel and dust them with a bit of cinnamon sugar.
- Wrap strips of the puff pastry (3-4 strips/apple ring) around each apple ring.
- Brush the wrapped apple rings with egg wash on both sides.
- Dip the rings into cinnamon sugar.
- Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes until puff pastry is flaky and light golden brown.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
- Use a 1-1/4 inch-diameter circle cookie cutter to cut the holes in the apples after they are cored You want the circle to be large enough to thread the puff pastry through.
- Don’t skip the egg wash; it makes the cinnamon sugar stick to the puff pastry.
- All ovens are different so please watch the oven closely while these are baking as they may need less or more time.

Can these be frozen to enjoy later?
Laura Franco says
I can’t say for sure because I haven’t tried it. They go so fast in my house that I never have leftovers. Let me know if you try it.

Thank you for this recipe. I made it today first time. It is so delicious! I baked it 375F for 20 minutes but it was a bit underbaked so I put them back for 14 more minutes. Definitely will make it again . I sent the recipe to my friend to try .

Anyone tried to bake these in the air fryer? If so, what were the settings and how long? Thanks!
Laura Franco says
I am sure you can. I recommend reducing the cooking temp by 25 degrees and cooking them for 14-18 minutes. Since I haven’t tried it myself, watch them carefully as the time may need to be adjusted more or less.

Delicious! I made these tonight for me and my 90 year grandmother. She couldn’t stop raving about them! These will now be a staple in my house! Thank you!
Laura Franco says
Thanks for taking the time to leave me a message! I am so happy your grandmother loved them.

How well do these keep overnight? Want to make some for a church gathering but won’t have time sunday morning to do them. Can I make them on saturday and hold? if so, do they need refrigeration? Thanks.
Laura Franco says
I haven’t tried to make them in advance, but I would think you can bake them, cool completely at room temp, wrap in an airtight continer, and warm them in the morning.
Laura says
They were good but not sweet enough for me. I dusted them with powdered sugar and that helped a lot., plus a drizzle of caramel sauce 🤤
Laura Franco says
That sounds delicious!

I never use or have eggs, so what would you suggest instead of an egg wash? These look amazing, so I want to make them as soon as possible!
Laura Franco says
You can use milk, cream, or a little bit of melted butter.
