Take a simple ham and cheese sandwich to a whole new level with a buttery croissant and tangy mayonnaise mustard sauce.
Why We Love These Sandwiches
This sandwich is ooey-gooey with melted swiss cheese, sweet honey ham, in a flakey buttery croissant slathered with our family’s favorite mustard mayo sauce. We absolutely love anything that is made with this mustard mayo.
Ingredients
- Croissants – I’m a big fan of letting the grocery store bakery do their job which is why I prefer to buy some baked items like a baguette and croissants.
- A1 Steak Sauce – I always have a small bottle of A1 in the refrigerator. It has a deep earthy tangy flavor that seems to really enhance sauces.
- Black Sesame Seeds – If you cannot find black sesame seeds at your market you can substitue white sesame seeds or even black poppy seed.
Let’s Make Baked Ham and Cheese Croissant Sandwiches
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Carefully slice the croissants.
- Place them on a parchment paper-covered baking pan or cookie sheet.
- Generously slather the mustard mayonnaise sauce on one half of the croissants.
- Fold a couple of slices of deli ham and place them on one half of the croissants.
- Place a slice of cheese on top of the ham.
- Slather any remaining mustard mayonnaise sauce and the second half of each croissant.
- Place the tops on the croissants.
- Melt the butter in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
- Liberally brush the top of each croissant with the butter.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top of the buttered croissants.
- Lightly cover the baking pan with alumnium foil.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
- I highly recommend buying luncheon meats and cheese from the deli to ensure freshness. It’s also very economical since you can buy exactly the amount you need and not worry about having too many leftovers. I prefer to purchase meats and cheese from the deli by the number of slices I need rather than by the 1/4 pound or 1/2 pound.
- These sandwiches can be made ahead of time and stored wrapped in aluminum foil in the refrigerator. To reheat, place them in a toaster oven or oven at 350° for 10-15 minutes.
