The Aperol Spritz is a very popular cocktail in Italy and other places in Europe. A combination of Aperol Liquor, Prosecco, lemon or orange, and soda water.
I proclaim that the Aperol Spritz is my go-to number one cocktail for 2019! Over the holidays we were out with our daughter. We stopped at our favorite place to grab a snack and a drink. I ordered my usual glass of wine while Vince ordered his usual beer. Our daughter, Taylor, promptly orders an Aperol Spritz.
I was pretty excited about her choice because I’ve heard a lot of buzz about the Aperol Spritz, but I’d never had one. And I didn’t even know what Aperol was or what the ingredients were in the cocktail. You can image my excitement when the bartender placed this beautiful drink in front of Taylor filled with a healthy handful of fresh mint.
I’d better take a minute to tell you about Aperol before I share the recipe. Aperol is an Italian aperitif with the flavor and aroma of orange. It has a nice blend of bitterness and sweetness. A traditional Aperol Spritz is usually made with a squeeze of fresh orange and an orange slice, but our bartender used lemon instead. And if you know me, that’s all I needed to hear because I love everything lemon.
