Rack of six

My Dad always ate a piece of cheddar cheese with his apple pie so naturally, I thought of just adding the cheese to the inside of pies. Sweet, savory and a little bite salty my Mini Apple Cheddar Pies a family favorite.

Is Apple-Cheddar Pie a real thing?

Yes, it’s absolutely is a real thing! And no my Dad did not make it up. Fruit and cheese go very well together. And if you’ve ever eaten apple slices with cheese then you know how delicious they taste together. Serving cheese with pie goes back to the early days in England where they served apple pie with a slice of cheese on top. There are also some restaurants that serve sliced cheese with apple pies.

Assembling the mini pies:

  1. Roll out the dough and cut large circles out of the dough.
  2. Add 1 TBS of grated cheddar cheese and 2 TBS of apple pie filling.
  3. Cut strips of dough to make the lattice and place 4 on each pie.
  4. Using a small round cookie cutter and the large circles you cut out of the dough, press to cut off the extra lattice and seal the pies.
