Pumpkin Spice Bars from a Box with homemade cream cheese frosting are the perfect little sweet bite for any fall get-together. And you only need 5 ingredients.
It’s fall and that means pumpkin time. Truth is that these are so easy that you can make them all year. Last weekend we had friends over for brunch and I wanted to serve something a little sweet after our more savory food. So I thought, why not get with the pumpkin craze and make a pumpkin spice bars. I don’t mind using a box mix for the dry ingredient, especially when I add other panty ingredients. This cake stayed very moist and you can really taste the pumpkin and the pumpkin pie spice. I use applesauce often in my cake and brownie mixes instead of the oil that the box instructions call for. The cake still stays moist but without adding all that oil.
Now let’s talk about this frosting! I love love love cream cheese frosting and I have become a pretty good judge of it over the years. I’d say my cream cheese frosting is about as good as it comes.
