Chocolate Hazelnut Berry Bruschetta

The combination of chocolate hazelnut spread and fresh berries is a flavor explosion on a crispy slice of toasted baguette.

Ingredients 

  • 1 French baguette
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 13 oz. jar hazelnut spread
  • 1 pint fresh blackberries
  • 1 pint fresh raspberries
  • honey
  • sea salt
  • fresh mint

Instructions

Toast Baguette

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Slice a French baguette and lay the slices on a parchment-paper-covered cookie sheet or a cookie sheet with a wire rack.
  • Brush each slice with a small amount of olive oil.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they start to turn light brown.
  • Cool for 10 minutes before assembly.

Assembly

  • Spread each toast slice with hazelnut spread.
  • Place a few of each of the types of berries on top of the hazelnut spread.
  • Drizzle the bruschetta with honey and a pinch of sea salt.
  • Garnish with fresh mint.

Notes

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
  • The salt and mint are the finishing touches on this bruschetta....don't leave them out.
  • You can make the toasted baguette slices a day or 2 in advance. Store them in the pantry or counter in a zip-top bag.
  • With the base of hazelnut spread, you can get creative with the toppings. Try your favorite jam or preserves, use another assortment of fresh berries, caramel and honey would be heavenly, and top it all with whipped cream for extra decadence.
