Preheat oven to 350°.
Slice a French baguette and lay the slices on a parchment-paper-covered cookie sheet or a cookie sheet with a wire rack.
Brush each piece with a small amount of olive oil or melted butter.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they start to turn light brown.
Remove the crostini from the oven and let them cool for 3 minutes.
