This is a Must-Try Recipe

Whoever came up with the idea of twisting bacon strips and baking them is a genius!

This bacon hack is all over social media and the only way I will make bacon from now on. It’s the perfect combination of crispy little bites with little pockets of chewiness.

Adding black pepper to bacon is truly a game-changer and flavor explosion.

There are a few easy tricks (see KKM Tips below) to ensuring it turns out perfectly but they too are super simple.

Ingredients

pound of bacon in the package and black pepper mill
  • Bacon – we like center-cut bacon, but you can use thick cut bacon for this recipe. If you use thick cut bacon, it make take an extra 8-15 minutes to cook.

Let’s Make Twisted Peppered Bacon

  1. Crumple a large piece of aluminum foil into a ball and then open it back up and lay it on a cookie sheet.
  2. Twist each strip of bacon until it is in a tight twirl.
  3. Place the twisted strip of bacon on the cookie sheet touching each other but not overlapping.
  4. If the pound of bacon does not fill the entire cookie sheet, curl the foil so that the bacon is snug on the cookie sheet.
  5. Cook at 375° for 45-50 minutes. Check the bacon starting at 40 minutes for crispiness.

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips

  • When making any type of bacon in the oven, use the crunched aluminum foil technique so the bacon grease has ridges to sit in while the bacon is cooking.
  • For this recipe, be sure that the bacon strips fit snuggly on the cookie sheet, touching but not overlapping.
  • The bacon will have pockets of extra crispiness and slightly chewiness when twisted.
  • This bacon made a fantastic Bloody Mary garnish.
