Why We Love These Cookie Bars

The truth is these cookie bars are my lazy way of making cookies. No scooping into perfect-sized cookies and baking multiple sheet pans, simply combine the ingredient, add them to a baking dish, and bake. So simple with all the cookie feels and flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 bag of mini chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tbsp coarse sea salt

Let’s Make Toll House Cookie Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. Line a 9×11 baking dish or pan with parchment paper.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  4. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl.
  5. Add eggs and beat for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add flour mixture, ¼ cup at a time, and beat until thoroughly combined.
  7. Add chocolate chips and pecans.
  8. Spread into prepared pan.
  9. Drizzle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Cool for 30 minutes before slicing.

  1. For clean-cut cookie bars, cool completely, carefully transfer the entire baked block of bars from the baking pan to a cutting board, and cut with a large sharp knife.
  2. A fun way to cut cookie bars is to use a seasonal cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
