Fresh thyme gives Ten Minute Herb Mushroom Sauce the deep herb flavors that make you think it’s been cooking for hours.
When I was a kid, I wouldn’t go near a mushroom. And come to think about it, neither would my kids. There must be something about the earthy rich flavor or the velvety texture that kids just aren’t crazy about. It’s a good thing, we eventually grow into our tastebuds and enjoy rich savory dishes like Ten Minutes Herb Mushroom Sauce.
My local market has a prepared gourmet mushroom blend with three of my favorites:
- Baby Bella mushrooms which are just a small version of a portabella mushroom.
- Shitake mushrooms which are native to East Asia.
- Oyster mushrooms which first came from Germany.
If you cannot find a blend of mushroom, simply use your favorite or try a couple that you have never tried before.
This sauce is perfect for warm baked chicken, it’s also very good when added to chicken-based soups. Or if you are like me, you can eat it as a side dish by the forks full.
