My Sweet and Salty Chocolate Chips Cookies have a secret ingredient. Since I cannot keep a secret, I’ll tell you right away – potato chips!
It’s a well-known fact that chocolate and salt go together perfectly. But do you really know why? No worries, because I’m here to tell you. We know that salt enhances flavor and that’s exactly what it does to chocolate. It enhances the sweetness and it cuts some of the bitterness of the chocolate.
You’ve probably had salted caramel or brownies with a little sea salt added but have you ever had chocolate chip cookies with little salty and crispy bites of potato chips? My family absolutely fell in love with Sweet and Salty Chocolate Chip Cookies; they’ll probably never want a chocolate chip cookie without potato chips again. Before I share the recipe, I should tell you I used regular salted potato chips. No ridges, no extra flavor, not kettle cooked, just regular potato chips.
