Puff Pastry Cheese Stars are an easy snack that anyone can make. They are buttery and flakey and topped with just the right amount of baked cheese.
This is the perfect appetizer for the holidays.
This is a “Must Try” Appetizer
Each year during the holiday season, I try to come up with a new recipe to add to our appetizer table. I’ve been making these for the past several years. My friends and family love them and they are seriously so easy to make you will definitely want to try them.
Simple Ingredients
Let’s Make Puff Pastry Stars
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Spread flour on the countertop and a small amount on a rolling pin.
- Roll out the puff pastry dough by rolling to the top, bottom, and sides 2 times. Do not over roll the dough.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out different sized stars.
- Place the cut-out stars on a parchment-paper-covered cookie sheet.
- Brush the tops with egg whites.
- Sprinkle both types of cheeses on to the stars.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Puff Pastry Tips
- Buy puff pastry when it’s on sale. Store it in the freezer. To thaw, place it in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Don’t rush this because you want to be able to unfold the pastry easily.
- You can thaw frozen puff pastry at room temperature but you need to watch it closely because it still needs to be cool but thawed enough that you can unfold it without cracking.
- If you are using a cookie cutter or a paring knife to puff pastry, make sure they are sharp. A dull cookie cutter or knife will tear the pastry.
- If the dough seems sticky or too warm after you cut the stars, chill them in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or while you preheat your oven.
- Make sure that you brush the top with an egg white. One of my best tips for egg whites, is it use the store-bought container of egg whites. That way you are only using a little at a time and not wasting an entire egg.

Yum! Anything that’s a vessel for cheese is good! I bet adding some jalapeños would be a fun touch too.

Jalapenos would be a great addition. Especially if you like a little heat!
