Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups basmati rice
- 1-1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 tbsp butter
Let’s Make Pressure Cooker Indian Style Basmati Rice
- Add rice and water to the pressure cooker.
- Add cardamom, cloves, and turmeric to a tea diffuser and place it and the cinnamon stick into the pot with the rice and water. If you do not have a tea diffuser, add everything to the pot and stir to ensure it is combined.
- Set the rice cooker to the “rice” setting with “nature release.
- When the rice is done, stir in the butter and fluff with a fork.

- Rinsing Rice: There is a debate as to rinsing rice before use. However, I’ve never had an issue with fluffiness by not rinsing it. If you feel the need to rinse the rice, please go ahead.
- Water-to-Rice Ratio: For an instant pot or other type of pressure cooker, the ratio for white rice is 1:1.
