These fun cupcakes are always a highlight of the party. Both kids and adults love the double chocolatey taste and the silly googly eyes.

Why I Love These Cupcakes

I first made these cupcakes as a joke for my husband’s 60th birthday. The cupcakes themselves are super simple to make from a box mix with a few extra ingredients and substitutions so they taste homemade. They are topped with a heaping amount of creamy chocolatey buttercream frosting.

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes

• 1 Chocolate Cake Mix
• 1 cup milk
• 4 Eggs
• 1/3 cup melted butter

For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

• 2 sticks of softened butter
• 3 cups powdered or confectioners sugar
• 1 TBS vanilla
• 4 TBS cocoa powder
• 1 TBS milk

Let’s Make Poop Emoji Cupcakes

1. Make the box mix according to the instructions and use the substitutions and an additional egg.
2. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
3. Cool completely before frosting.

Let’s Make the Buttercream Frosting

1. Mix butter with a hand mixer or in a stand mixer.
2. Add vanilla.
3. Add cocoa powder.
4. Add sugar 1/2 cup at a time.
5. Add milk.
6. Beat the entire mixture at medium-high for 3-5 minutes.

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips

To make any box cake mix taste like it’s homemade make a few simple substitutions and add 1 egg:

• Substitute milk instead of water
• Substitute melted butter instead of oil
• Add one more egg than the box ingredients indicates
