Pierogi and Kielbasa skillet with plates

We have always been big pierogi lovers – I mean, potatoes, cheese, and pasta…what’s not to like?  We’ve always been big kielbasa lovers too. So I’ve married two family favorite ingredients into one dish – Pierogi and Kielbasa Skillet Recipe.

Pierogi and Kielbasa Recipe

quick and easy preparation

Let’s face it, we all have those nights when we’ve got a million things to do or we’ve worked late or the kids have to been driven to sports or music practice. It’s those nights that I’m happy I keep Kielbasa and Pierogis in my freezer. I can have a delicious meal ready in minutes by adding some fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes. It’s hearty and it makes everyone happy. AND, it’s so much better than stopping for fast food.

One serving of Pierogis and Kielbasa

Pierogi and Kielbasa skillet Recipe ingredients

This recipe has just a few ingredients.

  • Kielbasa
  • Frozen Pierogis
  • Cherry Tomoates
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Butter
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Fresh Thyme

Ever wondered what kielbasa actually is?

I like to know about the food I’m eating so a few months ago I did a little bit of homework on what kielbasa really is? Most people probably know that it’s a Polish sausage, meaning that it’s very popular in Polish cuisine. I learned that it’s mainly a pork sausage with a small percentage of beef. While I’m not usually a fan of many “smoked” types of meat, I love the smokiness of Kielbasa sausage. It also has a strong garlic flavor that I think is perfect with the smokiness. It’s what I call a “snappy” sausage, meaning that it has a thick outer skin that snaps when you cut into it and eat it. But not to worry, the skin is not so thick that it makes it really chewy…it’s really quite pleasant to eat. I also categorize Kielbasa as a hearty sausage because it really is dense enough that you know you are eating pork.
