Handcrafted boozy Paloma Popsicles are made with grapefruit juice, tequila, and lime juice. A sweet, tart, boozy summer treat.
Boozy popsicles and slushies are all the rage this summer. These Paloma Popsicles are absolutely my favorite…might be because the Paloma cocktail is one of my favorite tequila drinks. These popsicles are easy to make and I can make a batch of them ahead of time and keep them frozen in the freezer so I always have something fun on hand when family and friends drop by. This popsicle tastes exactly like the Paloma cocktail.
What is a Paloma cocktail?
A Paloma cocktail is a tequila-based cocktail traditionally made with grapefruit soda or grapefruit juice and a splash of lime. It is one of the most popular drinks in Mexico – even more popular than the margarita.
Why is it called Paloma?
According to history, the Paloma name came a folk song in the late 1800’s…La Paloma, which means The Dove. But some say that an owner and a bartended in Tequila Mexico invented it.
Popsicle Trivia!
Bet you didn’t know that the popsicle was invented by an 11-year-old. It’s true! The story goes that eleven-year-old Frank Epperson left a sugary drink outside on a cold night and it froze. He thought it looked like an icicle and so he named it Epsicle. And that how the sugary treat was invented.
