Why I Love This Recipe
- Irish coffee over ice – there is nothing not to love here! If you’re a fan of Irish coffee, I promise you are going to love this.
- With only four ingredients, it’s a super simple cocktail to make. Nothing fancy – everything you love about Irish coffee but over ice.
- It still has that smooth whiskey taste from the Irish whiskey and a bit of sweetness from the sugar and creaminess from the half-n-half.
Four Ingredients
Black Coffee – You can use any black coffee you’d like in this cocktail. I like to make a big pot of coffee on a Sunday afternoon and keep it in a pitcher in the refrigerator so I can have iced coffee during the week.
Irish Whiskey – I highly recommend using a quality brand of Irish Whiskey for this drink. I use Jameson brand Irish Whiskey.

Frequently Asked Questions
I think it tastes sweet and smooth. It’s made from barley which does give it a more intense flavor, but I still find it very smooth.
I prefer Jameson brand Irish Whiskey. It’s very popular and you can find it almost anywhere spirits are sold. Most bars and restaurant bars also carry Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Of course! Bailey’s Irish Cream is very popular in Irish Coffee. It’s not as traditional, but because it’s very smooth and sweet a lot of people prefer it. I would omit the sugar if you are using Bailey’s instead of Irish whiskey.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Cocktail Tips
- When making any cocktail, always add the ice to the glass first and then build the drink from there. The ice will cool all the ingredients as you add them to the glass.
- Try to use high-quality liquor when making cocktails. Go for liquors that would be called premium vs. “well” or “call” liquors in a bar or restaurant. “Well” or “call” liquors are much less expensive and you get what you pay for; a much less quality cocktail.
- If you want to be a bit fancier, top this cocktail with some whipped cream and maybe even some cocoa nib shavings.
