Hot honey is all the rage right now. One bite and you will know why. It’s sweet and a little spicy. I promise this is your new “go-to” condiment.
My New Favorite Honey
Hot honey will blow your mind! If you light a little heat with your sweet then this is the new honey for you. With only three ingredients, it comes together in mere minutes and lasts for months.
Three Ingredients
- Honey – I use standard clove honey that comes from the grocery store. You can substitute and use your favorite type of honey.
- Apple Cider Vinegar – I recommend only using apple cider vinegar as it pairs nicely with the sweet honey to give a slight amount of tanginess.
Let’s Make Hot Honey
- Place the honey, vinegar, and pepper flakes into a small stove-top pan.
- Heat on high.
- Once the mixture turns to a liquid, watch it carefully. When it starts to bubble, remove it from the stovetop.
- Let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes.
- Transfer to glass jars.
Hot Honey Uses
- Drizzle over grilled chicken or fish.
- Drizzle over vanilla ice cream. For an extra bonus, add a bit of sea salt to the ice cream too.
- Spread it on cornbread.
- Use it on a charcuterie platter.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons to canned baked beans.
- Drizzle it over skewered peaches and gouda cheese (see below).
Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
- You can buy small jars or small honey bear jars on amazon. These hot honey bears make great gift items for family and friends.
- Be careful when making this recipe as the honey gets very hot when heated.
- For a more intense heat, add an additional teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
- This recipe lasts 6-8 months when stored in airtight containers at room temperature.
