Let’s Make a Hawaiian Roll Frech Toast Wreath
French Toast
- Preheat the oven to 200°.
- Slice each Hawaiian roll into thirds.
- Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a deep dish or baking pan.
- Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat and brush with 1 tbsp of the butter.
- Working in batches, dip Hawaiian roll halves into egg/milk mixture until saturated for about 30 seconds. Shake off excess egg mixture, and place on the skillet.
- Cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Transfer the rolls to the baking sheet and place them in the oven to stay warm while you cook the remaining slices. Add more butter to the skillet, as needed, to cook the remaining rolls.
Assembly
- Place the French toast slices in a circle on a large round plate.
- Layer banana slices between each slice.
- Layer in blueberries and raspberries between the slices of banana.
- Sprinkle with confectioner’s (powdered) sugar.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
- Hawaiian rolls are tender and delicate and don’t need to be soaked in the egg mixture as long as traditional French Toast. Soak them for about 30 seconds.
- This recipe can be used any time of the year in the “wreath” shape or served on a platter or individual plates with fresh fruit and maple syrup.
