There are a lot of people out there that will tell you they have the best Guacamole Recipe. But I am here to honestly tell you that while they may think that, they’ve never tried THIS Guacamole Recipe!
I was at a party recently and had a very similar version to this recipe. The hostess told me her recipe came from John Wayne. The next weekend, I spent hours online searching and searching for the John Wayne version but couldn’t find it anywhere – not even on Pinterest or Instagram. The one thing my friend told me was that the John Wayne recipe used key lime. Living in Florida, key limes are pretty easy to find. But since not all of you live in Florida, I made this recipe using regular limes that anyone can buy at the market all year round.
I like to serve these with blue corn chips because I like the hearty texture of the chip that holds up to a great big scoop of guacamole.

Guacamole Recipe

Ingredients
- 3 Avocados
- 1/2 large onion – diced small
- 1 clove of garlic – minced
- 1 large jalapeno – seeds removed and diced
- 1–2 tomatoes – diced
- 1/2 cup cilantro – chopped
- Juice from 1 lime
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and mash the avocado.
- Add the onion, garlic, jalapenos, tomatoes, and cilantro.
- Add the lime juice and salt and pepper.
- Mix together everything.
- Cover with plastic wrap so that the wrap touches the guacamole like a thin skin (this will help it from turning brown).
- Refrigerate for 1 hour and serve.
