Why We Love This Recipe

I’ve been making olive cheese bites for the holidays for as long as I can remember. Baked buttery cheese biscuit with a surprise tangy olive inside.

Salty, cheesy, buttery – everything you crave in one bite.

Easy to make ahead and freeze.

I should add that they are  HIGH ADDICTIVE. If you are a green olive lover, you won’t stop at one, or two, or even three – they are that delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 20 large Spanish green olives stuffed with pimento
  • 1 cup plus 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 stick of softened butter
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1-2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp water
ingredients to make olive cheese bites

Let’s Make Four Ingredient Olive Cheese Bites

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Pat olives dry on a paper towel and set aside.
  3. Using a fork, mix flour, cheese, dry mustard, and cayenne pepper in a bowl and set aside.
  4. Beat butter until it’s creamy.
  5. Add flour and cheese mixture, Worcestershire sauce, and water and mix until the dough forms a ball. This may take a few minutes.
  6. Use a cookie scoop to scoop balls of dough.
  7. Press each ball with your palms to make a disk and place 1 olive in the center.
  8. Form the dough around the olive. Repeat with all 20 olives.
  9. Bake for 17-20 minutes. They will be slightly golden brown on the bottoms.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips

  • While these are easy to make, they do take some time to assemble. If you’re making these on your own, make sure you have about 20-30 minutes to assemble them. If you can convince the kids, your friends, or anyone else to join you, the job goes a bit faster.
  • These can easily be made ahead and frozen for up to 2 months. To thaw, let them sit on the countertop and serve at room temperature.

They were wonderful!!! Easy to make. Only problem was it took longer to make than it took for them to disappear.

I made these years ago and took them to work for a holiday gathering. They were a HUGE hit! They are savory, a smidge salty (from the olives) and just a lovely mouth-full of flavor. The recipe I have is very old, but it additionally calls for 1 tsp. of Worcestershire Sauce (you can’t go wrong with this addition!), 1/4 tsp. of hot sauce of your choice, and 1 tsp. of smoked Paprika — these 3 additions are totally optional, but I feel they added just a bit of “umph” to the recipe. Thanks!@
