Four Ingredient Olive Cheese Bites are made with a buttery cheddar cheese dough wrapped around tangy green olives and baked for an easy and delicious appetizer. Eat them hot or at room temperature.
Four Ingredient Olive Cheese Bites are the perfect holiday appetizer
A holiday appetizer doesn’t get any easier than this – just four ingredients in my Four Ingredient Olive Cheese Bites – heck, even the name is longer than four words (insert laugh).
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 60 small green olives stuffed with pimento
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1 stick of butter – melted
While they are easy, I should warn you that they do take some time to assemble. So if you’re making these on your own, make sure you have about 20-30 minutes to assemble them. If you can convince the kids, your friend, or anyone else to join you, the job goes a bit faster. So now that you know they are a bit time consuming, I should also tell you they are HIGH ADDICTIVE. I am serious, if you are a green olive lover, you won’t stop at one, or two or even three – they are that delicious!
If you’re not convinced yet, close your eyes and think about a cheesy buttery dough wrapped around a tangy green olive – YUMMY!

Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 60 small green olives stuffed with pimento
- 1-1/4 cup flour
- 1 stick of butter - melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°
- Mix cheese and flour in a large bowl.
- Stir in butter until the dough forms a ball. If it's too dry, wet your hands and mix the dough by hand (repeat as necessary until a ball is formed).
- With your hands, mold a small amount of the dough around each olive.
- Place the cheese dough covered olives onto a parchment paper covered sheet ban and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Notes
- While these are easy to make, they do take some time to assemble. If you're making these on your own, make sure you have about 20-30 minutes to assemble them. If you can convince the kids, your friends, or anyone else to join you, the job goes a bit faster.
- These can easily be made ahead and frozen for up to 2 months. To thaw, let them sit on the countertop and serve at room temperature.
Those look amazingly delicious, Laura!! 🙂
Thanks Sue! They are a great little appetizer!
They were wonderful!!! Easy to make. Only problem was it took longer to make than it took for them to disappear.
I made these years ago and took them to work for a holiday gathering. They were a HUGE hit! They are savory, a smidge salty (from the olives) and just a lovely mouth-full of flavor. The recipe I have is very old, but it additionally calls for 1 tsp. of Worcestershire Sauce (you can’t go wrong with this addition!), 1/4 tsp. of hot sauce of your choice, and 1 tsp. of smoked Paprika — these 3 additions are totally optional, but I feel they added just a bit of “umph” to the recipe. Thanks!@
Thanks for the recommendations Gini; they sound great.
