Ingredients
- Mixed greens
- Apple
- Blackberries
- Dried Cranberries
- Goat Cheese – I use a berry goat cheese that I buy at Trader Joe’s
- Walnuts
Let’s Make a Fall Apple Salad
- Place mixed greens on a platter.
- Cut the apple into thin slices and fan them out in groups on the mixed greens.
- Place the blackberries on the mixed greens.
- Break the goat cheese into small pieces with your fingers and spread it around the salad.
- Top with dried cranberries and walnut pieces.
- Dress with your favorite vinaigrette.
Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips
- To keep apple slices from browning, pour 1/4 cup of water into a shallow dish and add 1-2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Submerge the apple slices in the lemon water for 2-3 minutes.
- Regular or honey goat cheese can be substituted for berry goat cheese.
- To keep fresh berries fresh, do not wash them until you are ready to use them.
- Add your favorite ingredients to make a variation of the salad.
- Add hardboiled egg slices and bacon bits for a more savory flavor.
- Add diced pears.
- Substitute pecans for walnuts.
