CRISPY AIR FRYER FETA ROLLS TOPPED WITH HONEY AND SESAME SEEDS

Why We Love This Recipe

  • Crispy Perfection: The air fryer gives the feta rolls a perfectly crispy, golden exterior while keeping the inside warm and gooey, achieving a delightful contrast in texture.
  • Quick and Easy: With minimal preparation and cooking time, these feta rolls are a convenient choice for a quick appetizer or snack, perfect for busy days or spontaneous gatherings.
  • Flavorful Filling: The creamy, tangy feta cheese melts beautifully inside the flaky pastry, creating a burst of rich, savory flavor with each bite, making them both satisfying and addictive.

Ingredients

INGREDIENTS USED TO MAKE CRISPY FETA ROLLS
  • 32 sheets of frozen phyllo dough thawed
  • 8 oz. block of feta cheese
  • Honey
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup rush pistachios

Let’s Make Crispy Air Fryer Feta Rolls

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°.
  2. Pat the feta cheese dry with a paper towel.
  3. Slice the feta block into six equal logs.
  4. Lay 1 phyllo sheet on a work surface and brush with olive oil.
  5. Lay another layer of phyllo on top of the first one and brush with olive oil. Repeat until there are 4 layers of phyllo.
  6. Lay one feta cheese log on the bottom of the phyllo layers.
  7. Drizzle with honey.
  8. Roll the phyllo in two rotations, fold in sides, and continue to roll until the feta is completely wrapped in phyllo.
  9. Brush with olive oil.
  10. Repeat until there are 6 completed rolls.
  11. Place three in the air fryer and cook for 5-8 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Transfer cooked rolls to a serving platter or tray.
  13. Drizzle with honey. Garnish with Sesame seeds and crushed pistachios.

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips

  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to ensure even cooking. This helps the pastry achieve a crispier texture right from the start.
  • Feta: For the best flavor, opt for high-quality feta cheese. Crumble it yourself for a fresher taste and better texture than pre-crumbled feta.
  • Properly Seal the Rolls: Seal the edges of the pastry well to prevent the feta from leaking out during cooking. You can use a bit of water or a beaten egg to help seal the edges.
  • Don’t Overcrowd: Arrange the rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking and less crispy results.
  • Cooking Time: Keep an eye on the rolls as they cook, as air fryers can vary in temperature. Start with a lower time and check frequently to avoid overcooking.
  • Brush with Oil: Lightly brush the rolls with olive oil or melted butter before cooking to enhance browning and crispiness.
  • Let Them Cool Slightly: After cooking, let the rolls cool for a few minutes. This will allow the cheese to set slightly and make them easier to handle.

Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients

  • 32 sheets of frozen phyllo dough thawed
  • 8 oz. block of feta cheese
  • Honey
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup crush pistachios

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F.
  2. Pat the block of feta cheese dry with a paper towel, then slice it into six equal logs.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and lightly brush it with olive oil. Layer another sheet on top, brush again, and repeat until you have four layers of phyllo.
  4. Place one feta log at the bottom edge of the layered phyllo sheets. Drizzle with a touch of honey, then roll the dough over the feta twice. Fold in the sides to seal, and continue rolling until completely wrapped. Brush the outside with a little more olive oil.
  5. Repeat with the remaining feta logs to make six rolls.
  6. Place three rolls in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed) and cook for 5–8 minutes, or until they’re crisp and golden brown.
  7. Transfer the cooked rolls to a serving platter, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and crushed pistachios for the perfect finishing touch.
  8. Serve warm — and get ready for everyone to ask for seconds!
