Description
Classic Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing is a classic steakhouse recipe. An ice-cold wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with creamy homemade blue cheese dressing.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Blue Cheese Salad Dressing:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (I use Hellman’s brand reduced fat)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (I use a low-fat sour cream)
- 4 ounces of mild blue cheese (Danish blue cheese)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- Salt and black pepper
For the Wedge Salad:
- 1 head of iceberg lettuce
- 4 strips of bacon – cooked crisp
- 2 hard-boiled eggs – chopped
- 1 medium-sized tomato – diced
Instructions
For the Blue Cheese Salad Dressing:
- Add mayonnaise, sour cream, Worchestershire Sauce, dry mustard, and salt and pepper to a bowl and stir until it is completely mixed together.
- Cut the blue cheese into very small pieces and add them to the dressing mixture using a fork to stir.
- Chill for 1-2 hours before dressing the salad.
Assemble the salad:
- Cut the lettuce into quarters and arrange them on a serving platter.
- Add 2 TBS blue cheese dressing to the top of each lettuce quarter.
- Evenly distribute the bacon, tomato, and eggs over the wedges.
- Salt and pepper if you’d like.
Notes
The salad dressing yields 1 cup.
