I have a new favorite cocktail! It’s the Classic Mai Tai Cocktail. Once you make this recipe, it will be your favorite too. The Mia Tai has is best know as a Polynesia-style cocktail…made with three types of rum and two types of juices. Although I’ve never been a big rum drinker, we have it in our bar because it’s the number one drink choice for our son and his wife. Often times on weekend we like to experiment making different cocktails and this one is one of our biggest successes- we all loved it. My favorite part of the drink is the slight coconut flavor you get from the coconut rum. That paired with the pineapple juice which is a famous combo on its own.
After you make this cocktail, try doing this – find a spot in the sun or under a big shade tree or sun umbrella; close your eyes, and take your first sip; let the flavors take you to a special place in the tropics. You might want to keep your eyes closed because this cocktail packs a punch!

Hi! I’m just curious if the quantities listed are correct. There are 7.5 ounces of liquor and five ounces of juice. Is this correct?

Joyce – that is correct – it’s very strong cocktail. You can certainly make adjustments, like adding more pineapple juice.
