Our Favorite New Sweet Treat

These hand-held bruschetta bites are the perfect blend of sweet, fresh, and a little savory. They are sweet enough to curve that sweet tooth but savory enough to satisfy. These are perfect for breakfast, brunch, a holiday sweet appetizer, or dessert.

A little bit of history: Hazelnut spread is made from roasted hazelnuts and cocoa – what’s not to love? And no wonder it’s Italy’s version of peanut butter.

Ingredients

The exact ingredient measurements are in the recipe card below.

wooden board with ingredients to make hazelnut bruschetta
  • Hazelnut Spread – use any brand you like. Our favorite is the popular Nuttela brand.
  • Fresh Berries – substitue with frozen and thawd berries if needed.
  • Fresh Mint – this is a must
  • Baguette – I recomment using a French Baguette
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coarse Salt
  • Drizzle of Honey – not shown in photo

Let’s Make Chocolate Hazelnut Berry Bruschetta

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Slice a French baguette and lay the slices on a parchment-paper-covered cookie sheet or a cookie sheet with a wire rack.
  3. Brush each slice with a small amount of olive oil.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they start to turn light brown.
  5. Cool for 10 minutes before assembly.

  1. Spread each toast slice with hazelnut spread.
  2. Place a few of each of the types of berries on top of the hazelnut spread.
  3. Drizzle the bruschetta with honey and a pinch of sea salt.
  4. Garnish with fresh mint.

Krazy Kitchen Mom Tips

  • The salt and mint are the finishing touches on this bruschetta….don’t leave them out.
  • You can make the toasted baguette slices a day or 2 in advance. Store them in the pantry or counter in a zip-top bag.
  • With the base of hazelnut spread, you can get creative with the toppings. Try your favorite jam or preserves, use another assortment of fresh berries, caramel and honey would be heavenly, and top it all with whipped cream for extra decadence.
