Baked Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips

Make crunchy crispy sweet cinnamon sugar chips from soft shell tortillas—only four ingredients and baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • Small soft four tortillas
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon

Let’s Make Baked Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Stack tortillas on top of each other.
  3. Using kitchen shears, cut them in half, then into quarters, and then into eights.
  4. Place the cut tortillas into a large bowl, separating them so they don’t stick together.
  5. Pour in melted butter and gently toss so that the butter covers all pieces.
  6. Whisk together the cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Pour the cinnamon sugar over the buttered tortillas.
  8. Use your hand to toss them to cover each piece with cinnamon sugar.
  9. Place the tortillas on a parchment paper-covered cookie sheet so they are not touching.
  10. Bake for 10 minutes, flip them over, and bake for another 7-10 minutes or until crispy. *Watch them carefully so that do not burn. The chips will become even crisper once they have cooled.
  11. Cool for 30 minutes at room temperature before serving.

  • Evenly coat the tortillas: Be sure each tortilla piece is covered in butter and cinnamon sugar.
  • Size matters: Stacking and cutting the tortillas with scissors is the best way to ensure that are all the same size.
  • Monitor baking time closely: Keep a close eye on the chips in the oven to prevent them from burning. Since ovens can vary in temperature, start checking on the chips a few minutes before the recommended baking time to ensure they reach the desired level of crispiness without becoming too dark. *Note: the chips will become very crispy after cooking and cooling.
  • This recipe makes 32 chips. To double or triple the recipe click X2 or X3 in the recipe card above ingredients. Make them in batches of 32 for each batch.
