This sweet sticky apple sauce has warm fall flavors from cinnamon and cardamom. This sauce can be eaten alone or as a dessert topping.
How to use Apple Honey Sauce
This sauce can be used in many ways:
- As a topping for pancakes and waffles.
- As a topping on toast or bagels.
- As a topping on Greek yogurt and ice cream.
- As a topping for pound cake or pumpkin cake.
- As apple pie filling.
- As a topping on grilled pork chops.
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 1-1/2 tbsp butter
- 3-4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup honey
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons cold water
Let’s Make Apple Honey Sauce
- Slice apples.
- Melt butter in a stove-top skillet.
- Add apples and lemon juice and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes until the apples soften.
- Add honey, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt. Stir to coat the apples.
- Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to make a slurry.
- With the heat still on medium, stir in the slurry.
- The mixture will immediately begin to thicken; continue stirring for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat; serve hot or all to cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
